The hot water pipeline from the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant to Brno has been evaluated at an industry conference as a key initiative for greening of district heating and significantly reducing regional emissions.
Ondřej Krutílek, Member of the European Parliament, referenced the hot water pipeline project in his presentation as an example of best practices in greening the energy sector. Krutílek also addressed the topic at a high-level discussion in Brussels in late March, where he joined other MEPs and organizers to debate the future of district heating in Europe.
The conference also featured a talk by Tomáš Weigner, Production Director at Teplárny Brno, on flexibility in the heating industry. He emphasized that, beyond substantial increase in energy security and driving decarbonization, the planned investment stands out for its flexibility and adaptability potential – an aspect that strongly resonated with the audience.
The District Heating Energy Days, which took place on 23–24 April in Olomouc, is an annual event providing a platform for the most pressing issues that resonate throughout the energy sector. The conference is organized by the Association for District Heating of the Czech Republic.
