The unique Dukovany–Brno hot water pipeline project was presented to a broad international audience at the Euroheat & Power 2025 Congress. Petr Fajmon, CEO of Teplárny Brno, shared the project with leading representatives of major European companies in the field of district heating, emphasizing its role in strengthening Brno's energy independence.
Held from 3 to 5 June in Prague, the congress is the flagship event of the Euroheat & Power Association and the largest platform focused on district heating in Europe. It provides exclusive insights into current legislation, business models, technological innovations, and market developments shaping the district heating and cooling sector.
As European cities seek sustainable energy solutions, Brno is demonstrating leadership in modern district heating. The scale and significance of the hot water pipeline align with the vision of the Czech national energy strategy and correspond to the European Union's long-term energy and environmental objectives.
The pipeline will deliver heat from the Dukovany nuclear power plant to homes, schools, hospitals, institutions, and industrial facilities. In addition, it will further strengthen the city’s energy resilience. According to current calculations, its operation will reduce annual CO2 emissions in Brno and its surrounding areas by more than 120,000 tonnes.
