On Thursday, September 4, Špilberk Castle hosted a unique gathering of ambassadors for the Dukovany–Brno district heating pipeline project, organized by Teplárny Brno. As one of the largest energy initiatives in the Czech Republic in terms of scale and significance, the project brings together leading experts in energy, finance, industry, and security with city leadership and state representatives.
The ambassadors bring valuable practical experience and international perspective, ensuring the project’s preparation and implementation proceed under highly professional supervision. Their role includes assessing key parameters, supporting process setup, and providing expert consultation in subsequent stages.
At the meeting, representatives of Teplárny Brno presented essential aspects of the project – the planned pipeline route through rural and urban areas, legal procedures related to preparation, and the financing model. In addition to the ambassadors, the event was attended by Brno Mayor Markéta Vaňková, Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík, and representatives of the South Moravian Region, who emphasized the project’s strategic importance for energy self-sufficiency and emissions reduction.
The new hot-water pipeline will deliver stable, emission-free, and price-predictable heat to more than 100,000 households and institutions in Brno. However, its scale and impact extend far beyond the city’s boundaries – the project will bolster the energy security of the entire Czech Republic and may become an international model for sustainable energy infrastructure.
